With the election of mayor and deputy mayor to be held this Monday night during the September ordinary council meeting, Mr Kingham will be throwing his weight behind Councillor Bruce Reynolds as his successor.
Opposing Mr Reynolds will be former deputy mayor Allan Ewin who has confirmed his intention to run for deputy mayor.
Mayor Scott Ferguson is likely to be re-elected unopposed.
Cr Reynolds said that it was time for generational change on council.
