Soccer
Under 6 Warriors
This morning Blayney Warriors played the most energetic, fun filled game that we have had all year. We were lucky to play against Waratah Roar who showed us just what u6 soccer is about.
Riley, Maddi, Jaxon and Cody each took turns taking the ball up the field getting the opportunity to each score goals and take the time to pass to each other ensuring everybody got the chance to practice their skills. Thanks to All spectators for showing their support.
Under 10 Roar
On Saturday the Blayney Roar met Millthorpe Growl at Millthorpe, in what can only be described as a tough day at the office! Our team were faced with a very strong and agile opposition, and it took a lot of passing and running before the first goal went in.
And what a goal! It just happened to be a birthday goal by Draydey Furnley, set up brilliantly by Olivia. Next saw Millthorpe get one straight back to make it even. After some great teamwork it was Angus 'Smiley' Oldham who was next to score.
Great defence by Cameron and Elijah and Spencer in the goal after that to keep out the defence. Special mention has to go to Emma too, who had so many attempts at goal, she really kept up the pressure! Olivia, Maggie and Henry had some great plays, never giving up, and then to top it off Angus served up another goal before half time.
The second half was a tough one, with lots of dribbling by James, Draydey, Olivia and Emma. Everyone was very tired by the end and Millthorpe capitalised on this getting a goal near the end. Well done everyone one on such a hard fought match. Congratulations players of the week, Angus and Olivia.
Under 8 Wildcats
Wildcats under 8s played a great game today against Cyms blue. They all worked as a team and really kept up a great defence around the goal.
Thanks to Miles for playing and scoring a goal for Wildcats, it made our day. Thanks to all the parent's and Grandparent's who show up weekly to help out in some way, I couldn't do it without you all and your support. The player of the day went to Lachie well done buddy.
Under 8 Phoenix
Phoenix this week played Waratah Braves with the team was at full strength. Tayla started in goals ( everyone's favourite position apparently) . and kept a clean sheet with our backs Myles Digby and Ollie letting nothing past them.
Rhys Beau and Lachie started as our attacking line and tore into the Waratahs defence applying relentless pressure.. Lilly came into the game and was instantly involved and now holds the middle ground for the Phoenix with strong tackling and passing.
After a strong first half the game was in the balance with our ever reliable Lilly taking over goal keeping duties Tayla moved back to her favourite position striking and the Phoenix took control. Digby had a field day scoring a hat trick. Beau and Lachie making some nice runs.
Ollie as usual was unstoppable. Rhys had some nice passes and tackle. Myles played a controlled game with solid defence and some fancy footwork.
Players award this week went to Beau he could receive this award every week as he always puts in 110 per cent. Well done Beau. PS a big thank you to Lilly the ultimate team player for filling the goal keeper role no complaints and super reliable ..
Under 9 Spirit
On Saturday Blayney under 9s Spirits played CYMS White at Jack Brabham. We were two players down, but got a great ring in Aiden and Andres little brother Hayden stepped up again for us. We ended up with a draw one all.
First half Karter was in goals with Aiden and Casey up the back, Archer was mid and Georgie, Andre and Hamish were up front. The game was a fast one with Cyms coming out strong, but Blayney was on top of their game in defence and attack. Karter was amazing in goals, with Casey and Aiden blocking so many of the Cyms attempts at goal.
Archer was amazing in mid, running forward and all the way back to help the backs clear the goals. The fabulous trio of Georgie, Andre and Hamish played so well together, their passing game was extraordinary, with a brilliant pass from Andre went straight to Georgie's boot and the ball went through the legs of a Cyms player and Georgie scored her second ever goal.
2nd half was a crazy half, with a penalty goal and even a NRL crash tackle thrown in. The only change was Archer swapped with Karter to be in goals and Archer was amazing, he put his body on the line time and time again stopping Cyms onslaught.
A handball close to our goals saw Cyms score a penalty goal to even the score. That seemed to fire both teams up and at one stage got a bit rough, with a few of my little warriors had to be taken off hurt, but that didn't stop Blayney pushing forward and coming so close to scoring a few times but missing by mms.
At one stage Blayney did a handball and the ball was called back, but Karter was in the zone and didn't realise and kept going and one of the Cyms players chased Karter down and crashed tackled him, the tackle would've made Blayney Bears proud, luckily Karter wasn't hurt too much.
A huge mention to Hayden who is only seven, coming on as sub and getting in there and mixing it up with the big kids and Aiden for backing up to play for us, you were amazing thank you.
Under 11 Glory
Blayney Glory played Ex-Services Panthers, in Orange. The Glory took to the field in Orange under pleasant sunny conditions to take on Ex-Services Panthers, a team they managed to beat comfortably in the first round.
The first half was hunky dory for Glory as they dominated play, scored a few goals and bossed the opposition around for the entire half. Glory seemed to take a comfortable lead into halftime, but right on the whistle Panthers struck, breaking the contest wide open.
In the second half Blayney quickly added to their tally but a few smart goals from Panthers slickest players brought the game back in balance. In the last ten minutes both teams pushed hard for the win and both got their chances, but it ended at three-all.
