A Taste of Italy
Carcoar will get a real taste of authentic Italian food when Antica Australis opens its doors in the not too distant future.
Antica Australis will be an Italian restaurant, but something completely different than what most Australians are used to.
Kelly and Paolo, the duo behind this new venture, will be recreating an Italian 'locanda' (more casual dining than a restaurant, directly translates as an 'inn') - a place to rest and relax and restore your spirits, and bringing authentic regional Italian home-cooking to Carcoar.
Carcoar Crows fly high!
Eighteen years after they last took to the field the newly reformed Carcoar Crows Rugby League team have played their first round of footy.
The Crows were triumphant defeating the Orange Barbarians 8-0 and the CSU Mungoes 22 -12.
The games were part of the new Western Rugby League's inaugural Community Cup.
The first round was played at Spring Hill in front of an enthusiastic crowd and is played as a short round-robin style footy competition.
Next round of the Western Rams Rugby League community cup will be held on August 31 at Burrangong.
There will be a bus for supporters from Carcoar. For more details ring Trish on 0429 683 609. Carn the Crows!
Carcoarians Keeping the Faith
The "people power" behind the move to save St Paul's continues to gather support from far and wide.
Thousands of concerned people have viewed the Facebook posts regarding the proposed sale of the church and expressed their outrage.
Grant Molloy wrote: "It really is a case that the community has to say no! It is complete mismanagement of the church finances by the hierarchy, that has now led them to this irresponsible mess.
How can they think that selling the second oldest church over the mountains is going to fix the situation. The funds received from the sale won't even pay the interest on the debt they owe.
Let alone pay for the unjust treatment of the members of the community at large." Another supporter wrote: "the church was built and continues to be maintained from donations from the community, as such when the Church is finished with it, it should be returned to the community.
NOT sold off." The Diocese of Bathurst have sparked a public relations nightmare and will have a battle on their hands if they intend to proceed.
