Sitting atop the Uralba aged care facility is a solar array that generates an impressive 37 kilowatts of electricity, enough to provide one-third of the centre's daily electricity needs.
Chairman of Uralba Carcoar Inc Andrew Baulch said that the decision to install the system would allow the facility to use the money saved for other purposes.

"As a small facility we need to stay viable, and cutting one third from our electricity bills is a significant step for us," he said.
Installed by Hybrid Power Systems of Orange, the $31,000 system has been funded by CORENA, Citizens Own Renewable Energy Network Australia, and is expected to save $13,000 per year.
"The savings will repay the loan in less than four years as the centre's greatest usage is during the day," Mr Baulch said.
The array was officially opened by the member for Bathurst Paul Toole.
