With only two more regular season matches to go, this weekend against Oberon and then ladder toppers Bathurst St Pat's on August 18, coach of the 18's Ryley Oborn said that he was feeling very confident that the side would make it.

"If we get a win this weekend it should probably secure it," he said.

"Even if we lose against Oberon I think we'll still be a chance."

The two sides that Oborn is watching are Hawks who have 17 points compared to the Bears' 19 and Mudgee who are sitting on 21 points and are likely to be their opponents in the first semi-final.

"Mudgee are the ones to look at but we'll be up against St Pat's for our last regular match and they'll be the benchmark," he said.

"So if we have a good run against them it will give us confidence as we go into the finals."

The under 18's came unstuck on Sunday though when they came up against another finals opponent Bathurst Panthers losing the match 28-12.

The league tag side though seemed to be cruising along with a comfortable, although at time overly intense match against their Panthers opposition.

League tag coach Tim Mooney said that the side was showing great potential for a finals win.

"They're really working well together as a team and their fitness is excellent," he said.

The Bearettes knocked the Panthers side out of finals contention with a 22-8 win.

The reserves forfeited the match against Panthers.

The first grade had a shocker on Sunday when the Panthers racked up two fat ladies 88 to Blayney's 14.
