"They really need to get quotes and have the backing of the village or sporting group that they're part of," he said. "And they can put in for more than one from the same group if they want to."

With an emphasis on developing projects for the youth of the shire, Cr Kingham believes that most of the villages will have some sort of project that they can apply for.

"Neville has the courts that they want built, Millthorpe has an extension to the skate park, Lyndhurst wants an extra 100 metres of footpaths to the school and here in Blayney we could be looking at change rooms and toilets and Dakars Oval," he said.

Time though is of the essence and Cr Kingham acknowledges that for some groups the idea of submitting funding applications are somewhat daunting, but says that help is available.

"If they are finding things that they can't achieve they should get in touch with Lauren Ferson at Blayney council," he said.

"From there they can point them in the right direction, help them to get a quote from either in council or an external quote from a contractor."

Cr Kingham said that although projects can be submitted directly to the state government, having them perused by council will certainly help them win the funds.

"There is a lot of expertise that will help them to finely tune their applications," he said.
