With the Winter Solstice now more than three weeks behind us, the fine days are noticeably longer. Gardening chores move on from the autumn ritual of raking leaves, to the pruning, weeding and fertilising which will prepare for Spring. The village continues to wear its winter beauty well, thanks to the 50mm+ rain in June that has kept a green tinge to winter paddocks, parks and gardens. Follow-up rain in July would also be very welcome. The Winter Fire Festival and Millthorpe Night Market is on the calendar for Friday, August 2 another stand-out village event.
