Several people in town have been filling the showboxes for years and often include their grandchildren in helping to choose the items. It's a process that the kids really enjoy knowing that they are bringing joy to children the same ages as themselves.
Organiser Lucy Needham said that it was important that people read the brochure before packing the boxes as certain items are prohibited by local laws and customs.
"They can't take lollies or food items, gambling items like play money, dominoes or cards and religious literature," she said.
Mrs Needham said that the most useful items are clothing, items for school and something for them to play with.
The shoeboxes can be collected from the Baptist Church by phoning Helen Mann on 6368 3823, the Uniting Church from Helen Burton on 6368 2270; the Abundant Life Church by calling Graeme Summerson on 6368 3399 and from the Anglican Church by calling Lucy Needham 0427 682 333.
