Mayson's on mark as under 18's trounce Oberon

Blayney Bears' under 18 side had another big win on Sunday subduing a determined Oberon side 32-24.

A late flurry of tries in the final 15 minutes secured the win for the side, and coach Ryley Oborn said they were a few players down on Sunday allowing some unaccustomed errors to find their way in.

"Our attack was really good on Sunday, but it's usually our defence that's the best," he said.

"We made a few errors and we also didn't get to finish some of our sets."

Of those 32 points new recruit Mayson McPaul was responsible for 12 of them, four from scoring a try in the 26th minute of the second half, the other eight from sending the ball sweetly through the uprights.

The first half of the match swung evenly from side to side with newcomer Felix Mitchell chalking up the Bear's first points with an early try at the three minute mark.

Converted by McPaul and bringing the scoreline to 6-0, the following points were all Oberon's though with both James Rich and Tyson Rice crossing the line.

Suddenly the Bears were in deficit 6-12.

However the mighty Zach Farr barged over in the 16th minute equalising the score at 12-12 at half time.

The second half though was pretty much all Blayney's with McPaul, Liam Henry, Jack Garrity and Dylan Marmion all adding four point each.
