Here are some of the profiles sent in to Blayney Shire Council over the past week or so from people wishing to honour people in the community.
John Mackie - NSW Rural Fire Service, Lyndhurst Brigade, 11 years
John has stepped up to the role of Captain with the Lyndhurst Fire Brigade and has spent countless hours networking within the community to increase the membership numbers, develop training with other local brigades and foster a strong, progressive culture within the Brigade. The members of the Lyndhurst community are at ease with John and regularly contact him with any fire related enquiries.
He has worked hard to continue to foster the excellent relationships in line with the previous Captain who held the role for a significant period of time. John is passionate about developing both his own as well as others skills.
Visitors Information Centre Volunteers
The volunteers at the Visitors Information Centre are instrumental in the Blayney Shire tourism industry. These volunteers are the friendly face that greets our visitors providing them with plenty of local knowledge and information about our region and local businesses.
Our volunteers work from a couple of shifts a week to a couple of shifts a month and they love meeting new people travelling from all over Australia.
They are always looking for more volunteers so if you are interested in spreading the good word of Blayney, pop in to the centre on Adelaide Street for a chat!
