Mayor Scott Ferguson was on hand on Tuesday to officially launch the Streatfield Close land development, with 14 new residential blocks near King George Oval, schools and less than one kilometre from the town centre to be made available off Plumb Street.
The sale of the blocks will provide greater housing opportunities for both current and future residents to build their dream home on affordable parcels of land right near the centre of town.
We're lucky to find a block of land this large which is only two blocks from the centre of town, from King George Oval.
- Blayney Shire Mayor Scott Ferguson
Blayney Shire Mayor Scott Ferguson said Council has been proactive in considering and taking the lead on facilitating the town to grow.
"It's been a long time since we have had residential development available in Blayney and given the strong demand for residential blocks there should be a lot of interest in the new estate," Cr Ferguson said.
"Blayney is a great place to live and we are excited to provide more people with the opportunity to build a home and be part of a rural and family friendly community."

Blayney Shire Council approved a budget of $1.32 million for the project in its 2018-19 operational plan, which includes the initial land purchase, and was funded by external borrowings.
All 14 blocks range from 838 to 1095 metres squared and have access to the National Broadband Network, underground power and sewage.
Civil construction will begin in August, with the blocks expected to be ready to build on by the start of summer.
The naming of Streafield Close honours former Lyndhurst Shire Council mayor Goerge Streatfield, who was in charge from 1905 to 1914, with the naming put to a public vote last year.
Blocks are now on sale, and Cr Ferguson said there had been "a lot of interest" since the announcement.
The agents involved include Blayney Real Estate, Kennedy Ready Estate, Ray White Emms Mooney, and PR Masters Stephens and Co.
