Four separate businesses were targeted in Blayney in the early hours of Monday morning, with thousands of dollars in damage caused to properties and items stolen.

The businesses were located on Adelaide Street and the Mid Western Highway and they include a service station, two licensed premises and a Blayney Council owned property.

Chifley Police District Crime Prevention Officer Senior Constable Sue Rose said front and rear doors of businesses were smashed by the intruders.

One break and enter occurred at a licensed premises on Adelaide Street between 9pm on Sunday and 10.30am on Monday.

"The door was smashed and it appears no entry was gained," Snr Const Rose said.

At 3.45am on Monday an alarm was activated at a service station on Adelaide Street.

"The door was smashed, but no entry was gained," Snr Const Rose said.

"I'd say the alarm was what made them run."

Then, at 3.55am on Monday, an alarm at a licensed premises on the Mid Western Highway was activated.

"The owner thought it was a false alarm," Snr Const Rose said.

An amount of alcohol was stolen during this incident.

Finally, another break and enter occurred at a council property on the Mid Western Highway, however, police are yet to confirm the time this happened.

"It's unclear what's been taken as the property was ransacked," Snr Const Rose said.

"They got into the site office and we're waiting on confirmation of what has been stolen."

Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras were in operation at all four businesses and the footage is being reviewed by police.

Snr Const Rose said police officers suspect the incidents are linked.

"There were items left behind [by the intruders] at one of the premises that we're going to do a forensic examination on," she said.

"Police are continuing their enquiries and we're hoping to get an ID on the items that were left behind or from the CCTV.

"CCTV is proving so useful for us, the clarity is great these days."
