When the league tag side ran onto the field they came off a win against Bathurst Panthers only five days earlier.
That win though looked like a faint memory as the side made a number of errors that left coach Tim Mooney wondering.
"They got off to a real good start but CYMS intercepted a ball against the run of play and then scored again from another mistake and it was 10 nil," he said.
However it was ten minutes in that the girls regained their composure and with the fine work of Georgia Calub and Hannah Stammers, and the boot of Olivia Bird, they were able to bring the score back to 10-10 at half-time.
Straight after the break though the taggers were on fire and Courtney Simmons quickly added a try that was followed six minutes later by Sophie Stammers also crossing the line.
A conversion by Olivia Bird left the Bearettes with 20 solid points and CYMS looking for an opportunity to punch through.
It was in the dying stages of the game when CYMS' Emily Goodwin was able to notch up another try that added a touch of anxiety to the Bears faithful.
But some determined defence kept them at bay and the Bears won 20-14.
Next Sunday the Bears are at home against Mudgee.
