Sharna Kinghorne and Taylor Hobby are just two of the many sporting stars that are coming out of Blayney High, and recently in Newcastle the pair were part of the nine-girl Western squad that have been crowned winners of the NSW Combined High School Volleyball Girls Championship.

So impressive was the side that consisted of our two Blayney girls and seven from Denison college, that they dropped just the one set across all nine games they played.
And for the second year running Taylor Hobby has been selected to take on the private schools in the CHS State Open Volleyball squad on June 7.
Although defeated when playing in the under 16 competition last year, Hobby is confident of success this time around.
"We'll be playing the Combined Catholic Schools and the Combined Independent Schools at Homebush and a NSW under 16's side," she said, "We're feeling a bit stronger as a team this year and I think we'll do really well."
With a suite of sports to choose from, and a regular sight on local netball courts and cricket pitches, Hobby enjoys being in the centre of it all during a volleyball match.
"I really like playing centre-block and that's most likely the position I'll play in," she said, adding "Volleyball is a great team sport with a lot of strategic play as well as the technical side to it."
