Open Day is open for bookings
THIS year's Newcrest Mining Open Day is now open to bookings, with ore processing added to the list of things to see.
The day will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 8.30am-2:30pm, with buses leaving every 10 minutes from Blayney, including disability tours.
Cadia Valley Operations general manager Peter Sharpe said a separate tour would be conducted to the Blayney Dewatering Facility, the final stage of ore processing.
"This facility was opened in 2016 and has not been opened to the public before," he said.
Tickets are available for a gold coin donation here or from Orange Visitor Information Centre.
All funds raised from the event will be matched dollar for dollar by Newcrest and will be donated to CanAssist Blayney.
Kids Corner at the book fair
The workers who are sorting and pricing the books this year are delighted with the number of quality children's books that have been donated this year.
There will be the usual quiet corner at the book fair where children can sit on the carpet and browse or have a book read to them.
"We will also have packs of children's books available at $1.00 for five or $2.00 for ten,"organiser Mrs Russ said.
The Book Fair and Trading Table will be on Fridays 5 and 12 and Saturdays 6 and 13 April from 8.30 - 4.30 each day in the Anglican church hall in Adelaide Street.
