CHARLES Sturt University (CSU) has thrown open its doors for public consultation sessions in Bathurst, Dubbo and Orange amid its rebranding and potential name change.

The university recently announced that ahead of its 30th birthday in July that it was undertaking a rebranding which could included a change of name.

Since then, CSU has received support and criticism about the name change with some branding it a waste of money and a dent on the institution’s reputation.

Also, a change.org petition calling for the university not to change its name has attracted more than 5700 signatures.

As part of its planning process, CSU has launched consultation sessions for the public to find out more and have its say.

CSU Vice-Chancellor Andrew Vann, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) Jenny Roberts and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Development and Industry) Heather Cavanagh will host the various sessions.

A statement from the university said attendees at the sessions would be able to learn more about CSU’s “strategy and brand transformation” along with activities that the university is investing in, including courses, facilities and the brand transformation project.

Also, that each session would encourage the sharing of community feedback and include time for questions and answers.

CSU’s statement said that the face-to-face and online consultation sessions would contribute to the feedback already collected.

Members of the public will need to register for the consultation session they wish to attend.
