Newbridge News | Farewell

It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing on December 26 of Mr Brian Bennett, a stalwart of the Newbridge community for  over 50 years.

Plenty to choose from: Organiser Jan Dickie with Kath Fardon at the 2018 Newbridge Swap Meet.

His funeral on January 3 in Bathurst was attended by a large contingent of the Blayney Shire, testament to Brian's  contribution to his local community.

The Bathurst R.S.L. was represented at the funeral and a poignant Last Post was played at the conclusion.

Good Fences

The Newbridge sports ground in the near future will boast new perimeter fencing, a barbecue area and revamped pavilion which will be renamed the Brian Bennett Pavilion in recognition of a long-standing pillar of the community.

Don't forget that the next Newbridge Swap Meet will be on February 10, 2019.

Remember to keep this date in your diary as it is always a much anticipated day. Contact Jan Dickie on 66368 1004 for information and bookings.

Building Bridges

Construction of the new bridge over the railway line is well underway with John Holland providing locals with an access road which runs parallel with the railway line.

The Battle of the School Bush Bands is on the agenda for 2019. It is amazing how much talent we have in the tablelands region and Newbridge Progress Association would like to exploit this talent with an exciting competition.
