Further progress has been witnessed at the Millthorpe Railway Station in the last week with the renovation of the wooden palisade fence along the edge of the old platform and the painting of the palisade in a rich heritage cream. The decision to retain the palisade fence now appears to have been a positive one, now that the paint colour connects it visually to the heritage railway station.

The concrete foundations will shortly have the steel structure erected, which will in turn carry the platform extension. With two businesses operating in the station building, an extensive carpark area to the left of the station, public amenities and a village tourist map displayed near the railway gates, the railway station precinct is proving very attractive to both locals and visitors to Millthorpe.
Millthorpe Markets a Model of Great Management
The contrary weather, with four seasons in the day, on Sunday, December 2, did little to affect the highly popular Millthorpe Markets. With an attendance estimated at eleven thousand people, all the stall owners hopefully were smiling at the end of a successful day.
For the many attending the markets, it was a great event, with improvements in the management of crowd and market stall logistics apparent. The markets are a model of efficient management and community involvement, notably the role that the students, staff and parent body of Millthorpe Public School play in their running. www.facebook.com/millthorpemarkets
Millfest
On Saturday, December 8 the very popular Millfest will occupy Pym Street between 12pm and 7pm.
This street festival is an event for all ages, with live music, gourmet food and wine, and popular village shops joined by a great range of stalls, including many with Christmas themes. A gold coin entry is requested.
Six New Stations for Redmond Oval
Not railway stations, but exercise stations! On Monday, December 3, local State member, Paul Toole, visited Millthorpe to announce a $13,000 grant to the village under the Community Building Partnership Grant program. This grant will fund the installation of six exercise stations around the Redmond Oval precinct.
The stations will be positioned in pairs to create an exercise circuit and encourage fitness activities. The Village Committee will add additional funds to extend the existing path from the barbecue area, via the children’s playground, to the edge of the bitumen near the rotunda.
