Week two – Blayney versus Bushrangers.
As the day’s play commenced, Morgan Fuller in for Madison Marmion and Mic Garrity replacing Blair Holgate, the chance of an outright victory was at long odds, yet still an outside possibility.

Harry Taylor (nine runs) and Alex Kinghorne (ten runs) reopened the innings for Blayney.
Short pitched, wild, aggressive bowling challenged the boys, yet Harry stayed solid, whilst Alex met the batsman and gave as good as he got, sweet timing a nice four, before soon after being dismissed.
Taylor Hobby (19 not out) kept the Blayney total ticking over, until a change of tactics by the Bushrangers with the introduction of a new bowler, kept Harry on his toes – literally.
The full pitch bowling battering Harry until, an over pitched “Yorker”, collected Harry squarely and quiet firmly, on the ankle.
A now “Hobbling Harry”, fought on nonetheless running uncomfortable singles in a bid to back Taylor, before losing his wicket, in a highly courageous performance.
Bailey Perkins (56) eager to pick up from where he left off the week before, enthusiastically went hunting, for the middle of the bat.
Recognising the need to build a total quickly, a zealous Bailey wasted no time in adding four runs, yet struggled to find his usual rhythm, before being caught hitting over the top.
Taylor was left “still standing”, unbeaten on nineteen runs, in a tremendous and determined display.
A nice little “tail wag” by Blayney, earned a handy, one hundred and twenty run lead.
From the outset, the Bushranger batsman, were in no real hurry to score runs, the clear instructions from their captain being, “survive the day”.
Blayney opening bowlers, Jack Garrity (0/16 off five) and Nathan Wells (2/37 off 12) were having no luck at all.
Fixed and measured batting, accompanied strict umpiring, hindering Blayney’s fight, for an outright victory, taking until the eighth over for Wellsy to strike.
Alex Kinghorne (0/8 off two), Morgan Fuller (0/8 off five), Taylor Hobby (0/21 off five) and Mic Garrity (0/7 off five overs) were patiently played, blocked or left with the experienced senior batsman, cleverly preventing, frustrating and irritating the Blayney bowling attack.
“Bails” Bailey Perkins (1/33 off ten) “kicked UP his heels” and decided to bowl a bit of spin, with limited early success.
Upon seeing this, Bailey’s “bowling coach, mentor and new spin guru” Harry Taylor (2/22 off five), was handed the ball by captain Nathan Wells with instructions, “get us a wicket, Harry!”
And it didn’t take Harry too long at all. First ball… pitch, turn, swing and miss, straight to slick handed keeper Jordan Hobby, who claimed the faultless stumping.
Two overs later, Harry did it again, and claimed another wicket with a nice catch being taken.
Hayden Webb-Pratt (0/23 off four) was bought into the attack and decided to “kick BACK his heels” and bowl at medium pace, from a 25 metre run up.
(The length of Blayney pool..?) Bailey bowling from the opposite end, at the Bushrangers own version of our “Big Bash”, hitting two half chances, with both being bungled and put down, until one finally stuck in Jacks hands.
As time wore on, a further result unlikely, Blayney claimed first innings points and their first victory of the season.
“I’m over the moon”, declared a jubilant Blayney Captain, Nathan Wells.
“I’ve got to praise the entire team, but Bailey’s incredibly important fifty last week, then Hayden winning the match ball, with his performance, it’s a huge credit to them both!”
