In recent months, members of the Blayney Probus Club have definitely experienced these ideals by participating in such diverse activities as our week long annual holiday.
This year the club visited the Murray River region to learning about the proposed new McPhillamy’s gold project at Kings Plains with representatives of Regis Resources.
They also learnt to appreciate the art of photography with guest speaker Zenio Lapska and with several members sharing and expanding their interest in this skilled activity.
This year’s trip with stops at Echuca, Mildura and Hay was applauded by all as amongst the best the Club has offered.
Outstanding memories on top of the friendship and fellowship of the 35 members and friends on the coach included some of the lesser known attractions such as the Spannerman at Boort, the desert botanical gardens near Mildura and the Altina Zoo near Darlington Point as well as the more usual high quality touristy activities such as paddle steamers, winery visits and shearer’s hall of fame at Hay.
All up, a most enjoyable week. Thanks to secretary Lyn for her organisation of the trip.
On the iconic first Tuesday in November, members of Blayney Probus enjoyed the opportunity to help CanAssist make the Melbourne Cup luncheon another memorable day of fellowship.
The next general meeting of the Blayney Probus Club will be on Thursday 15th November 2018 at the Blayney Community Centre commencing at 10am.
To continue our interest in photography, members are invited to bring along photos of themselves as babies or as children (to see if they can be identified by other members) and the best photos from our memorable recent Mildura trip.
The December meeting will be the Christmas luncheon at the Royal Hotel on Friday 7th December. With no meeting in January, the next general meeting will be on Thursday 19 February 2015.
Please think about nominations for office bearers and committee for the 2019-20 year which need to be submitted in writing to the Secretary before the February meeting.
Members are encouraged to be active participants in the running and operation of the Club.
At any age, enjoying the good times in life with friends is wonderful but the real value of friendship is experienced in the care and support which is so freely offered in the not-so-good times of our lives.
Friendship can be expressed in diverse ways and it sometimes seems harder to accept a caring hand than it is to offer one.
Be a friend and accept friendship. We thank our friends for your friendship.
Come and enjoy the friendship, fellowship and interest that Probus offers.
