I have recently been involved with the community consultation between Regis Resources and the Blayney community. I attended the focus groups and information days and have walked away feeling very worried and concerned.

I have lived in this area for over 80 years and seen many industry developments come and go, but this proposal and potential impact on this community and its environment could have devastating results.
I am NOT anti development, but I do believe that the risks far outweigh the economic gain.
The potential long term devastation on prime agricultural grazing land, the risk of a toxic tailings dam in the river and stopping the natural flow, and the piping of saline/acidic unwanted water from Lithgow are real issues which the whole community need to think about.
I find it unbelievable that there will be the piping of water which is unwanted in the Sydney catchment area but acceptable to end up in the Lachlan catchment area!
If this development goes through, what a terrible legacy we will be leaving for many generations to come, if not forever.
