With only third party property insurance on the vehicle, Mr Beyeler will now have to pay for the repair.
Mr Beyeler is hoping that someone knows who hit the car and reports it to police.
Terry Wright, a friend of Mr Beyeler, said that it appears that the offending car was dark and would have had substantial damage done to it.
“There has to be someone out there that either knows who did it, or have seen a dark coloured car with damage up the passenger side of the vehicle,” he said.
“It really is appalling that something like this has happened to a pensioner who now has to find the money to fix his car.”
