There’s the grandeur, elegance and skill of the horse events, the quality of the fleeces, the wood-chop, the rides, and of course, the pavilion.
It’s in the cake baking selection of this year’s Carcoar Show that will really excite the lovers of all things cake.
This year the feature cake will keep all the royalists happy, and the republicans will just have to take a step back and maybe enter the men’s cake competition.
The 2018 Carcoar Show feature cake is the Duke and Duchess of Sussex-Lemon and Elderflower Wedding Cake, and by all accounts, it’s delicious.
Not really for the feint of heart, the feature cake includes lemon curd, meringue kisses, swiss meringue buttercream and a lemon drizzle over the top.
The recipe is in the Carcoar Show program and we also have the recipe as an image on the Blayney Chronicle Facebook page
For the men there are only two conditions.
The first is that it must be made entirely by a man. No helping, not even in the washing up.
Secondly, it must be a chocolate cake. Any recipe, any shape, any number of layers, they’re all welcome to be entered into a section that will surely leave the judges buzzing.
Both the men’s cake and the feature cake have a $100 first prize donated by cake loving friends of the Carcoar Show.
Entries are to be in to the hands of the steward by 12pm on Friday October 27.
