Dean Lettice in Millthorpe would like to see a touch football competition begin in the Blayney Shire, using Redmond Oval in the village as its base.

He’s put the word out to all the clubs and school’s in the shire and is now looking for a group to help him organise the public liability costs involved.

“Without going through one of the sporting clubs the cost of the public liability insurance can be too high and will make the cost for families too much,” he said.

“I can’t use the fields without public liability cover.”

Lettice said that the competition is for all ages.

“If all the schools in the shire get involved we can have a kindy - year 3, a year 4 - 6, years 7 -  9 and a year 10 - 12 playing in the mixed competition with the adults,’ he said.

He’s hoping that the shire’s football clubs encourage members to get involved.

“Touch football is a real feeder for the senior football clubs because once the young ones start playing and get a feel for the ball and the game, they often move up into the senior clubs,” he said.

Lettice said that Monday night was the best night in the shire for running to competition so that it doesn’t compete with other sports.

Registrations are from 4pm on Monday the 15^th of October with the competition starting on October 22. The cost is $20 per child and adults are $40 each
