Lyndhurst Village Committee member Richard Bloomfield said that the evening was one of the committee’s big fundraising events for the year.
“All of the money raised goes towards the maintenance of the hall and other projects around the village,” he said.
Rhonda Bloomfield said that the evening couldn’t have happened without the support of the volunteers.
“Just in the kitchen we had ten volunteers helping out Lee Hewitt and Robyn Kingham who provided the catering,” she said.
Alan Watsford was the successful winner of the lasso competition.
Welcome to Carcoar BBQ
The Welcome to Carcoar BBQ held on Sunday September 9 was a triumph of a day.
Held in Kurt Fearnley Park its entertainment was anchored by Rob Sparks who set up all his gear on the lid of the septic tank just out from the eastern wall of the School of Arts Hall.
Perhaps the highlight of the day was the belly-dancing by the "Orange Tribal Fusion" group of four very colourfully dressed women.
The event set out to welcome all new people who have come to Carcoar during the past 12 months which included interalia, new teaching staff, nursing staff and residents from Uralba, new business operators along with new residents and their families.
Newbridge Hall gets a facelift
Newbridge Recreation Ground Hall will benefit from almost $19,000 in NSW Government funding to repaint the centre.
Minister for Lands and Forestry and Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the hall was popular with local community groups.
“The hall is regularly used by the Newbridge Village Progress Association for their meetings as well as the Newbridge Art Group for classes,” Mr Toole said.
“It is a focal point of the community, as it is also used regularly for workshops and community events.”
