While Hawks are still just one point clear of second-placed Cowra, St Pat’s have drifted even further away from the finals frame, they’re now five points out of the top five with just a month left in the regular season.
Considering they have a round 17 bye from which they get no competition points the mountain the Saints have to climb to earn a post-season berth is a big one, in fact, it may as well be Mount Everest.
The Saints were actually on the board first on Saturday through a Michael Latu try, Hawks started somewhat slowly after a bye week but took control reasonably quickly after that and edged to an 18-4 lead at half-time.
With a six-tries-to-two second half, Hawks blew that margin out to 38 to not just claim the two points but also earn a handy points difference boost too.
