On Monday, the BOM forecast snow for Friday but predicted it would only fall on Mount Canobolas's summit and higher slopes, as well as some of the other higher-altitude spots across the Central West.
But on Tuesday night that forecast was revised to include Orange itself, as well as Millthorpe, Blayney and other areas in the district.
This is in addition to Lithgow, Oberon, Shooters Hill, Jenolan Caves and Crookwell, as well as heavier snow predicted for the NSW and Victorian snowfields.
In July, 2015, residents woke to find up to a foot of snow had fallen in the shire’s streets and backyards, the first time in many years the shire had received a decent covering.
Falls were particularly thick in Millthorpe where the extra metres in altitude allows the snow to settle longer.
