As frost clings to the shadows outside of his Inala housing unit in Millthorpe, long-term resident Vince Murphy is now warmer inside his flat than he’s ever been.

Inala’s units are now part of the 61 Housing Plus properties across the central west, and Mr Murphy said new inverter air conditioning units, and the installation of a 3.6 kilowatt solar system on every roof, was making a huge difference to residents’ lives.
“We only used to have a panel heater and that was struggling to keep the loungeroom warm,” Mr Murphy said, “But now I can even have the door open to my bedroom and it keeps the whole place warm.”
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the $108,000 investment by the state government with partners Housing Plus, would reduce fuel poverty.
“The Home Energy Action Partnership will support Housing Plus help lower the householder energy bill by $200 a year,” he said.
Mr Murphy though is confident of even greater savings.
“If I run all my appliances during the day like they say, I should save double that.”
