To celebrate both the cold and the streetscape, Pym Street will be the centre of attention on the evening of Friday August 3, when the inaugural Winter Fire Festival is launched with a nourishing food and wine market.
Instead of the usual hungry hordes descending on Robertson Park in Orange, Pym Street will be lined with stalls offering delights from around the region.
Organised by the new Orange 360 tourism organisation, which includes Blayney Shire, the event is also being coordinated by the Millthorpe Village Committee whose president, Sam Yeates, is gearing up for the challenge.
“We’re harking back to community events like cracker night,” he said.
“We’ll have 44 gallon drums alight down the main street and we’re currently working on a suitable location for a fireworks display.”
Entry will be by gold coin donation.
