The removal of the pine trees backing onto properties along Johnston Crescent has raised the ire of a nearby resident who is disappointed to see the trees disappearing.

Former forestry worker Norm Kirkland said that residents may come to rue the day they had the trees removed.
“Those trees have been there for a long, long time,” he said. “You would think that the residents there would relish having the trees there to give them shade during the horrific summers we’re having now.”
Blayney mayor Scott Ferguson said that the removal of the pine trees was endorsed by councillors in response to resident concerns about the ageing condition of the trees posing a significant safety risk.
“A consultation process was undertaken to explore options for the removal of the trees and replacing them with more suitable, smaller species which was the most appropriate action,” he said.
“The woodchips are being stockpiled to be reused as mulch to support the new plantings.”
