Brooke Turner, Kiara Sandry and Ashley Sawdy competed at the five day event against much larger schools that have been a part of the expo for many years.
Brooke Turner was awarded sixth place in the combined training Level 2 event and Kiara Sandry came in sixth in the combined training Level 3.
Science and Agriculture teacher, and team manager, Rachel Crofts said that the girls were really punching above their weight.
“This is a massive inter schools equestrian event attended by hundreds of students and horses from across NSW,” she said.
“This was their first time at the event and to perform as well as they did when they had no idea what the competition was like, is a real credit to them.”
With nearly 200 competitors for the team penning competition, their results were even more outstanding.
“The girls, including Ashley Sawdy, picked up a seventh place at their first attempt,” Crofts said.
“In their team event for team penning, Blayney was the sole public school in the placings amongst several very competitive private schools.”
Ms Crofts said that the team were keen to return again next year.
“They absolutely loved it.”
