Last year, more than 13,500 nominations were received for the Central West Regional Award category.
About 20 dedicated volunteers were then chosen to represent the area at the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award State Finals.
Those chosen from our region include Greg Nicholls from the Cowra District Cricket Association, Barry Fuller from Bathurst Meals on Wheels, the Orange CultureHub Committee, and Larissa, Makayla and Katrina Benham from St Johns Ambulance at Bathurst.
The Centre for Volunteering’s Chief Executive Officer Gemma Rygate said the annual awards were the state’s way to recognise the outstanding work and achievements of volunteers.
“We know that people from regional areas like Blayney are more likely to generously give their time to help their local communities,” Ms Rygate said.
Residents can submit their nominations until 5pm on Friday, July 13 at www.volunteering.com.au.
