The ceiling was damaged by water leaks and the integrity of the building was being compromised by years of wear and tear.
Thanks to a grant that was organised by Rebecca Ryan, the general manager of Blayney Shire on behalf of the Blayney RSL Sub Branch, $50,000 was granted to save the building.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said that the grant from the NSW Government’s Liquor and Gaming NSW War Memorials Grants Program, has allowed for the building to be finished in time for Anzac Day.
“Generally the hall was in a reasonable condition, but did need some major maintenance works completed,” he said.
The first priority for the tradesmen was to replace the rusting iron on the roof, ballast, gutter and down pipes and to ensure the structural integrity of the building.
The Blayney RSL repaired the plaster and painted the front fence.
