This year the Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge is expected to wow even more than the 5,000 visitors who travelled to the shire last year to check out what was on offer.
To add even more bang to the visitor travel buck, villages and properties in Bathurst council area will also be joining in the fun.
Blayney mayor, Scott Ferguson, said that because of the ‘Tour de France’ style welcome to riders, the region is becoming increasingly popular as a cycling destination.
“The beautiful landscape and gently undulating road networks through our historic country villages are fast becoming a popular attraction for cycling enthusiasts from across the region, state, nation and beyond,” he said.
“With the addition of the Gran Fondo elite cycling event as well as the usual 70 km and 100 km rides at this year’s B2B cycling event, many visitors will come to discover the region.
“We encourage them to pick up a Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge map and take a drive through our local villages where hay bales art work will be displayed.”
The Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge will officially start from 16 April - 23 April 2018.
Artwork will be judged and winners announced on Tuesday 17 April.
Local business vouchers will reward the tremendous effort of entrants to the value of $300 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for third.
