With a larger committee on board, the Textures of One (ToO) team has changed this year’s Cultural Festival to include the Artisan Markets on the Friday night of the grand opening.
The Community Centre will be home to not only some of the most impressive and unique works of art, but on opening night there will be live music, great food, and the opportunity to purchase some unique handmade jewellery, sculpture, photography, soaps, craft or artworks at the artisan markets.
Unique to the Blayney Shire, the Textures of One is made that way by asking artists to include an image of the motif, and this year it’s a keyhole.
Event organiser, Loretta Kervin, said that the number of entrants this year have been rolling in for quite some time.
“Entries have been coming in for some time now, and with only 1 week to submit your entry forms, it looks like 2018 is going to big bigger and better than ever before.”
For those artists that are looking to take a shortcut by adding a keyhole to an already completed work, Loretta said that the judges are all over that.
“Judges will be looking for artworks that have integrated the key hole cleverly within the artwork rather than abstractly placing a key hole randomly on as an afterthought,” she said.

Loretta added that working to a motif was a challenge for many artists.
“It is definitely challenging to come up with an artwork around a particular theme, but when you see the exhibition come together and all the clever people in our community, you see the benefits and success of the Textures of One, many mediums, one motif exhibition.
With $4200 worth of prize money to be given away for various categories, this year ToO has opened up a junior category for those up to 18 years of age, and a photographic category.
Artists can use other mediums and textures to portray or interpret the image, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles or mixed media.
All entries have to be submitted by Friday March 9.
Entry costs are $25 per artwork and juniors is $15 per artwork.
