Pancake Tuesday

Traditional “Pancake Tuesday” is being celebrated at historic Millthorpe on Tuesday, February 13, with a pancake evening.

This free event is on at the St Marks Anglican’s Hall from 7pm behind the picturesque church; and everyone is invited!

Just bring yourself and your favourite savoury or sweet filling to share at this fun family feast.

Pancake or “Shrove” Tuesday (also variously called “Mardi Gras” and “Carnevale”), is a traditional celebration that marks the start of Lent in the Christian churches.

Communities would make pancakes with their left-over gourmet meats and sweets before the start of the six-week period of self-denial leading up to Easter.
