For the third year in a row Blayney High School's Marie Cornish Girls Cricket team has won the final of the Western Region Competition against Parkes High School.

The game was hard fought and with Parkes setting a cracking total of 146, it was sure to go down to the wire.
The girls showed great steel and toughness to come out on top, reaching the total with only a handful of overs to spare, and two wickets left in the sheds.
The win came after a solid semi-final win against Orange High School in November.

In that game their coach, Anthony Salmon, said that their bowling was decisive.
“It was a another strong bowling performance all-round, combined with clinical efforts in the field saw the visitors bowled out for 67,” he said.
In response, Blayney made quick work of the target reaching the total with 8 wickets and plenty of overs to spare.
“Congratulations girls it was an outstanding effort and you deserve every accolade,” Mr Salmon said.
