Ms Sky will represent the Greens during the September election.
She said women were under represented on council and was hoping to change that in September, as well potentially encouraging more women to nominate for the election.
Only men were elected to Blayney’s council during the last election in 2012.
“Blayney needs a voice for women, children and youth,” Ms Sky said.
“Orange is used to have a Greens ticket, but there hasn’t been a political party which has run in Blayney.
“There’s a perception that the Greens are just there to protest everything, that’s not what we’re about.”
Ms Sky said Blayney council had done considerable work since she had returned to live in the town.
“In the 13 years the community has really become a place that’s attractive, people are wanting to come to town,” she said.
However, it’s not just about attracting more people to visit Blayney, or consider moving to the region.
Ms Sky said she wanted to see a school holiday care service begin.
“I was instrumental in the development of the Blayney After School Care Service and securing a large corporate sponsorship to bring the Raise Youth Mentoring program into Blayney High School,” Ms Sky said.
Ms Sky said a fifth of the town was under the age of 14 and parents needed the extra help during school holidays.
“I used to have to take children to Bathurst vacation care, they’re without friends and people they know, it should be in Blayney,” she said.
Ms Sky also wants to see further encouragement for renewable energy, and ensure funding continues to be delivered to the town’s health and education services.
