Hockey side showing promise
Blayney’s women’s hockey side is going great guns this year with some very close losses countered by some emphatic wins.
At their first match on the April 23 the new side lost 0 -1 against Waratahs Blues but stormed home three days later during a deferred match against Kinross smashing them 7-0.
With the taste of victory sweet on their lips they convincingly beat City Zenas 5-1 on April 29.
Cyms Green were just a little bit too good for the side and Blayney fell by the wayside, losing to Cyms, 2-0
Team manager Gerry Hunter said that the girls had shown some great match results so early in the competition.
“With a lot of new players it has taken a few weeks to get to know each other, and to find some match fitness,” she said.
“The young girls have improved out of sight with Abbey Connolly, Callie Nichols, Madi Bullock, Ainsley Hamson, Emily and Kimmy Anderson all showing great improvement and drive.”
Their next game is Round 6 Saturday 13th May at 1pm against Canobolas Nomads.
