Financial assistance handed out by Blayney Council

The second round of Blayney Shire Council’s Community Financial Assistance Program has been finalised with a total of $21,021.73 being handed out to local not-for-profit community groups.

From baptist churches to golf clubs, there were 18 applications with a total value of $98,538 in works or programs seeking $25,200 in financial assistance.

Grants ranged from $200 for the schools public speaking competition to $7,238.53 for the upgrade of the Blayney Golf Club ceiling.

Millthorpe and Blayney Baptist churches were approved a grant of $3000 for materials in the mother’s group playgroup area. The grant is conditional on the public access for all community users via signage on the building, advertising and notification to all existing mothers groups.

The waiver of fees for the provision of bins at various events was a popular request with Blayney Bears, the Blayney A&P Association, Newbridge Progress Association and the Neville Showground and Recreational Trust all receiving either 100 per cent or a partial amount of the fee.

The CWA also was a beneficiary of the grants with the Carcoar-Mandurama branch receiving $1,500 to help with the cost of removing asbestos from the roof and Lyndhurst branch receiving $500 towards the cost of painting windows and doors.

Sporting groups also benefited with the waiver of fees for the use of the courts, community centre usage and assistance with the cost of attending state championships.

The Local and Family History Group received $900 to acquire aerial images for the historical collection.
