Mandurama General Store owners Narelle and Sean Riley said the Renee volunteered to paint the mural, which displays a range of local landmarks and iconic features of the area.
“It’s a bit of all things Mandurama and surrounds – it captures all that’s good about our district and is a great pointer for people who want to look around the area and explore what we’ve got here,” Narelle said.
“Renee drafted the mural in crayon and pictures were added to it as we went along.... people would come in and make suggestions about what should be on it and Renee took that on board with the design.”
Narelle said she has already received positive feedback about the mural from locals.
“Everyone’s been really positive and are very complimentary of Renee.”
The design is part of a broader strategy that Narelle and other members of the village community are working on to beautify Mandurama’s main street and present a positive image to people travelling through.
“People don’t have to veer off the road to get into our main street so it’s a good opportunity to get people stopping and having a look around.” Narelle said.
“In order to get people to stop here we need to get people interested and things like the mural help with that.”
Unlike most things that come at a price nowadays, locals can drive out to Mandurama right now and see the fine piece of artwork for free.
Further plans to beautify the main street and other parts of Mandurama are currently being discussed between residents and Blayney Shire Council.
