In combination with the replacement and realignment of the Brown’s Creek road bridge, the six kilometre stretch from Millthorpe Road to ANL has seen millions of dollars spent on it.
The Australian government contributed $1.5 million to the project through the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, with additional funding also provided by ANL and Blayney Shire Council.
Blayney mayor Scott Ferguson said that the upgrade will increase productivity for local businesses.
“It will allow these industries to use trucks with larger haulage capacities and to help cut transport costs and delays for heavy vehicles,” he said.
Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole said that the community would also benefit from the $1.5 million upgrade which is part of the Restart NSW Fixing Country Roads.
“This project will improve safety and efficiency for vehicles of all sizes,” he said.
“When complete, the upgrade will make it easier for industry to move organic fertiliser, quarry products and livestock to market.”
The work will include pavement strengthening, widening and realignment of the road.
