It’s been 12 months since council decided that the sale of Inala units in Millthorpe would go ahead, but that decision, at the time, was met with solid resistance from the village’s community who wanted to see the residents of the complex remain an integral part of the community.
An alternative to the outright sale of the units to a developer was found in the form of Housing Plus, who on Tuesday December 5 officially became the new owners of the complex.
Blayney mayor Scott Ferguson was pleased to see Housing Plus as the owners of the units.
“The Housing Plus objective of maintaining the Inala units as an affordable housing complex for older and disadvantaged residents is one that both the Millthorpe community and Blayney council fully support,” he said.

Housing Plus has proposed a number of cost saving initiatives including solar panels, energy efficient appliances, a community garden.
Current residents will see their existing rental and tenancy arrangements maintained whilst also receiving an improvement in services, including referrals.
