Years ago the area around Pound Flat on the Belubula River in Carcoar was a mess of willows and weeds, but thanks to the hard work of the Carcoar Urban Landcare Group, that area has been transformed into a recreational space that neatly encompasses the natural heritage of the village and the surrounding area.

More than two years after the start of the first REVIVE project in August 2015, a new grant from the NSW Environmental Trust of $54,000 will allow the next phase of the project, called REVIVE 2, to continue the work that Brian Parker, Supervisor Parks and Recreation at Blayney Shire Council, is very excited about.
“We’re going to be moving upstream of where we’ve been working and concentrating on improving the river banks and water environment of the Belubula River up and around the edge of the showground site,” he said.
To help maintain the aesthetic of the elm tree clad showground, Blayney Council and the Carcoar Urban Landcare Group will be working closely with the Carcoar Show Society to preserve the look and feel of the showground, whilst repairing the bank and introducing some welcome visitors.
“We’ve been actively re-snagging the river with hardwoods and lately we’ve been seeing, and catching, quite a lot of very nice looking trouts," Mr Parker said.
A community BBQ lunch will be held in Kurt Fearnley Park at 12 midday this Saturday November 25 to celebrate the completion of Revive 1 and the launch of Revive 2.
The BBQ will be followed by a walk and tour of the site.
