Blayney Shire Council, CentrePoint Sport and Leisure, the Blayney Chronicle and Bernardi’s Supermarket teamed up to set a town, team and individual challenge to motivate the community to get healthy, happy and feel better this Spring.
The community was invited to join the Healthy andHappy Wellness Challenge which kicked off from 1 September offering affordable ways to motivate people of all ages across Blayney and surrounding villages to eat healthy, get active, join group fitness and look after their body and mind.
Blayney Shire Mayor, Scott Ferguson said the results of the program have surpassed initial expectations with teams and individuals making important lifestyle changes to improve health outcomes.
“Since the program began, we have had about 300 individuals and 20 teams from across the Shire join the Challenge for many different reasons - to get fit, to focus on better health, to lose weight, to do more exercise, to eat better, drink more, socialise with friends, connect with the community, reduce blood pressure and the list goes on.
“Regardless of why they started, we are proud of the community’s involvement. There have been many achievements and milestones along the way that we want to celebrate with everyone at the Wellness Expo this weekend. “

“It has been a massive commitment to maintain a healthy momentum over the past 3 months and we are hearing positive stories of how locals have made lifestyle improvements that will continue well beyond the program,” Cr Ferguson said.
As part of the Blayney Farmers’ Market this Sunday, the Healthy Happy Wellness Challenge winners and runners up for teams and individuals will be announced and prizes awarded to celebrate their success.
