Raising money for Motor Neurone Disease as part of Fire Fighters Climb for MND, Adam and James have not only been training flat out, they’ve also managed to more than double their initial fundraising target of $2000.
With the help of the Blayney Newsagency, who raised $1000 from public donations and gave the pair $500 to help them along, $1816.65 at the trivia night that was supported by the Blayney Bowling Club, $951.70 from the raffle at Bernardi’s and $600 on their Go Fund Raise page, the pair have raised $4868.35 and hope that it will hit $5000 by Saturday morning.
James said that he didn’t know what to expect on Saturday morning other than by the time he gets to the top, he’ll be exhausted.
“Because of all the security concerns there are no images of the fire stairs, no diagrams or anything,” he said.
“We don’t know if it’s a spiral staircase, how wide it is, are there landings?”
“All I can think is that after so many people running up the stairs in their full kit, it will be stuffy and warm inside.”
Although they’re helping each other train for the event, James believes that his running mate will be the first to the top.
“I think that Adam will certainly do it easier than me because he’s a bit of a dark horse and will just smash it.”
