The sports ground needs an overhaul and the tennis courts are cracked and virtually unplayable.
A team of fitness and community enthusiasts though are pushing for more money to be spent on the town’s sporting infrastructure.
The Carcoar Sport and Recreation Club Incorporated is the name of the new entity whose goal is to bring life back into the village.
“We want to get younger people back into the community and the ones already there more active,” said committee member Adam Lowe.
“We’re now having monthly meetings and talking to the community and finding out what people want.”
Talk of the Carcoar Crows reforming though are somewhat premature, Lowe said.
“That’s a really big thing to have to do and costs a lot of money and it is a big part of the history of the town,” he said.
”You just have to look at the walls around the pub to see the photos of all the teams from the past.”
Lowe said that if it did happen, poaching players from the Blayney Bears was not an option.
“That’s not what our goal is, we’d prefer to work with the Bears as it wouldn’t probably be the same competition and there are a few different options if we get anything to happen.
“It’s something that we’ll be working on over the next few years and it can’t happen overnight.
“We’ll be working on getting grants to get work done and improving the grounds.”
