For the uninitiated, arena sorting is the process by which 10 steers are released into the arena with numbers, from one to ten, around their necks.
Secretary of Lyndhurst Team Penning, Rochelle Milthorpe, said that it was somewhat different to standard team penning.
“Arena sorting involves the team to cut out the correct cattle and drive them back to the pen while holding back the wrong cattle,” she said,
“The cattle must be moved from one pen to the other in the correct order within the two minutes allowed.”

Teams are groups of three and riders are coming from as far as Glen Innis and Riverstone to compete.
There are two days of heats, with 120 riders on each day, and the finals will be held on Monday at the Lyndhurst Golf Club
