The Australian Champion Fleece competition has been a cornerstone for the show’s activities since 1984 when G Rayner from Wattle Flat won the first Australian Champion Fleece Trophy.
Since then the trophy has changed hands many times, a testament to the high regard to which the trophy is held.
The Wool Competition also recognises Champion Ram Fleece, Champion Longwool Fleece, Champion Commercial Fleece, and Local Champion Fleece.
The winner of the champion fleeces gains automatic right of entry into The Land Sydney Royal Easter Show.
This is a great opportunity to highlight the local wool industry.
