The Tuskers made the Rams work hard for the win and the visitors led 5-0 at half time after a long range intercept try.
The locals had plenty of field position in the first half but squandered opportunities through poor handling and impatience letting the visitors off the hook.
More first half injuries also contributed to the incohesiveness with Cam Hobby, Brendan Newstead and Sean Toohey all coming off in the first stanza.
Cam was able to return but it meant a reshuffled backline with skipper Sam Nixon taking over the 5/8 role in the already understrength backline.
The forwards as usual were strong especially in the set pieces and welcomed back Stuart Tait in the lineout and Jimmy Stanbridge.
In the second half with Sam controlling play the Rams started to look more dangerous and it was centre Josh Nixon who opened up the visitors defence to firstly put Michael Nixon into the clear for him to score an unconverted try.
Josh then made another break only to lose the ball as he was about to score.
From the ensuring 5m scrum a big push from the Rams resulted in a loose ball and Tylor Hobby pounced to score his first try for the Rams.
Ryan Simmons was next to touch down after Cammo opened up the visitors defence down the blind side.
Hooker Andrew Delayney scored the last try after some dazzling footwork left the Tuskers fullback grasping thin air.
